At the start of this month Samsung had announced that its 5.5-inch Galaxy Note II passed three million in sales, and now the company is announcing it's moved two million more in less than a month. Now available on North American carriers the stylus-packing smartphone is apparently experiencing popularity in all regions. It has even featured in an Apple lawsuit, and its new ad focusing on using the stylus has become an internet meme. It may not be ready to challenge the smaller Galaxy S III for the company sales crown just yet, but with five million out the door and more every minute, XL-sized handsets are clearly here to stay.

Windows Phone 7.8 to launch in China in 'coming weeks'
Microsoft's vice president for the Greater China region has revealed that the company's Windows Phone 7.8 upgrade will begin rolling out in the country in the "coming weeks," backing up a previous promise to release the software before the end of the year. Speaking to Chinese newspaper BJD, the executive also confirmed that Windows Phone 8 handsets will go on sale in the country next month.
First announced back in June, Windows Phone 7.8 is seen as a compromise between versions 7.5 and 8, providing a revamped start screen with fully re sizable tiles. It will be available as an upgrade for older handsets such as Nokia's Lumia 900, as well as powering new low-end devices, and is expected to roll out to the rest of the world following its China launch.
Go Daddy DNS Compromised
Hackers have altered DNS records of websites hosted by Go Daddy, with the aim of infecting visitors with ransomware. The attackers are adding subdomains to the DNS records, pointing to a malicious IP address under their control, allowing victims to believe they are going to the right website, and for the pages to avoid various security protection mechanisms. This attack comes two months after an alleged attack on the Go Daddy network.
The server being pointed to has what is known as the Cool Exploit Kit, which according to Sophos is malware installation that uses a number of different vulnerabilities, in an effort to infect the visiting computer. Once infected, users are presented with a payment page that displays region-specific content that makes the computer appear as if it's been locked down by local law enforcement. The page uses a webcam that claims to record the user for identification purposes as well as a list of potential offenses that the user is said to have committed, and that if a fine is not paid within a certain timeframe, the computer would be locked down completely.
Affected webmasters are asked by Sophos to check their DNS records as soon as possible, and for visitors infected with the ransomware to consult someone that knows how to remove it from their system. Sophos has also contacted Go Daddy about the issue, and suggested to the company that it allow users to check the times account credentials have been used to access the control panel for a domain.

Apple asks court to include Galaxy S III with Jelly Bean and four more devices to the Patents Lawsuit
Apple have decided to pack their knockout punch on Friday night of a holiday weekend in its ongoing patent lawsuit against Samsung. According to Florian Mueller of FOSS Patents, after Samsung asked to add the latest iPads, iPhones and iPod touches to its list of claims and the court approved the addition of the iPhone 5, Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note 10.1, Apple is trying to put six more devices on the list. Listed in the motion are the Galaxy S III running Android Jelly Bean (interestingly, not Jelly Bean itself), Galaxy Note II, Galaxy Tab 8.9 WiFi, Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, Rugby Pro and Galaxy S III mini.
As usual, the case will proceed, we'll wait to hear if these requests are approved by the court and in the meantime, products from both the companies will keep on flying from shelves like hot cakes...:)
